Whereas negotiations are ongoing between the European Parliament and the Council to set up an EU cybersecurity certification framework, FEM co-signed a joint industry letter calling for a flexible and future-proof Cybersecurity Act that boosts competitiveness rather than prevent innovation.
To this end, the co-signatories stress the importance of industry involvement, advocate a non-mandatory framework, support a greater use of self-assessment and request that interoperability with existing international agreements, regulations and standards be embedded in the development of future schemes.
