EFM roundtable on EU data economy

Eva Virtute, Chair of FEM Technical & Regulatory Committee, spoke at the European Forum for Manufacturing’s roundtable on “EU data economy – new models for manufacturing” that was held on 21 June 2017 at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Ms. Virtute spoke about the legal aspects of digitisation. She explained how data has become an enabler of new products, services and new scenarios. Defending the freedom of contract, she stressed that “maintaining the freedom of contract makes it possible to adapt to a digital environment that is in constant evolution.” Finally, she highlighted that the lack of a unique and clear scenario for data ownership and management was an obstacle for companies to invest.

EFM events are held at the European Parliament several times per year and provide an opportunity for the European manufacturing industry to exchange with decision-makers from the European Parliament, European Commission and Member States.
