As part of their role as Official Partner for Material Handling Equipment at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Toyota Material Handling Europe is launching a new communication programme that aims to raise awareness of the role played by the logistics industry.
Our marketing campaign for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, #wedeliverforyou, aims to highlight the crucial role of logistics in our daily lives, ensuring the delivery of essentials to over 750 million people across the continent. This campaign seeks to raise awareness among consumers, future colleagues, and potential customers about the incredible, often unseen work within the logistics industry.
Using the global stage of Paris 2024, we are positioning Toyota as a leader in this field. We are targeting our B2C2B audience to showcase pioneering efforts in sustainability, energy solutions, automation, and innovation, with Toyota Material Handling at the forefront.
By focusing on these themes, we hope to inspire interest in the logistics industry and recognize its vital contributions to society.
One of the messages within the campaign is ‘every click makes something move’ – reflecting how advanced digital systems result in items being almost instantly selected for despatch as soon as a consumer completes an on-line purchase.
The programme also draws parallels between the preparation of Olympic and Paralympic athletes in readiness for their events with the need for logistics teams also to be fit and responsive to consumer demands – shown in a powerful film clip.
“There are over 5 million people working in the logistics industry across Europe – whether they are in warehouses, driving lorries, delivering parcels or running sophisticated IT systems – and we want to put a spotlight on the vital role that they play in society,” explains Mark Peters, Marketing Director at Toyota Material Handling Europe, “and we realised that we have a great opportunity to do this as a result of our involvement at Paris 24.”
“Another dimension of the role played by the logistics industry is the pioneering work done in the area of sustainability,” continues Peters. “We are already seeing moves towards electric delivery vehicles on our roads, but behind the scenes we have been working with electric vehicles in captive environments like warehouses for decades. We are also already working with hydrogen solutions, and we see many customers generating their own renewable energy on-site. We are also extensively working with automation to improve efficiency, accuracy and safety as well as reducing damages. All of this means our industry is making a major contribution towards future technologies.”
There are six key messages within the programme, all designed to give consumers an insight to the world of logistics:
1. A powerful team of over 5 million people
The European logistics industry, with over 5 million workers, delivers essential goods daily, from groceries to medications and building materials. As a leading player in European logistics, we provide vital equipment and services, employing intelligent machinery and automation to meet consumer demands reliably.
2. Every click makes something move
The global online retail industry witnesses an immense volume of transactions daily, with the largest retailer processing around 10 million orders within 24 hours. This surge in demand for swift delivery has prompted advancements in logistics, with sophisticated systems ensuring rapid order fulfilment, from picking to dispatch. As a leading player in European logistics, we offer a spectrum of solutions, from human-assisted to fully automated, meeting the evolving needs of online retail.
3. Always innovating – continuously improving
The traditional image of a warehouse is evolving rapidly, with digital control systems, automation, and advanced safety measures becoming commonplace. This shift towards smarter solutions improves efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in storing, retrieving, and transporting goods. As a leading player in European logistics, we’re at the forefront of this transformation, collaborating with leading companies to embrace the future of logistics, characterised by robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles.
4. The right things – right on time
The logistics industry ensures that shelves are stocked and online orders are fulfilled promptly, minimising disappointment for consumers when items are out of stock. As a leading player in European logistics, we provide reliable equipment to meet consumer expectations, enabling on-time deliveries through efficient supply chains. With Toyota Material Handling’s extensive fleet across Europe, goods are moved reliably to meet consumer demands, ensuring timely deliveries.
5. Every day is different – you decide how
In the industry, we adapt to seasonal shifts and consumer preferences, ensuring that shelves are stocked with the right products at the right time. Managing changing demands requires effective traceability and real-time data analysis to minimise waste and meet consumer expectations. As a leading player in European logistics, we innovate alongside our partners, utilising technologies like robotic stock scanners and drones to optimise stock levels and supply chains. This ensures that consumers have the freedom to shape their daily experiences with a variety of choices.
6. Leading with good energy
Reducing CO2 emissions is crucial to combating climate change, and the logistics industry is pivotal in this effort. Embracing electric and hybrid vehicles, advanced battery technologies, and renewable energy sources, we aim to minimise emissions while maintaining performance. As a leading player in European logistics, our multipath strategy includes innovative research and development, positioning the industry to lead in sustainability.
