FEM Cranes and Lifting Equipment launches Classification Guideline explaining the conversion from time-based to cycle based classification

Historically, FEM Guidelines and ISO standards have classified hoists and lifting equipment using time-based methods. In recent years, the cycle-based classification has become more and more common following the publication of the new EN 13001 series. During the Plenary Meeting 2020, FEM launched the FEM Classification Guideline N 9.521. On 20 pages, it offers many practical examples for typical applications explaining the relationship between both types of classification and offers a calculation method for converting time-based into cycle-based classification (and vice versa).

President Franz Schulte: “We believe this guide is an excellent and valuable document helping purchasers and users to understand the move from time-based to cycle-based classification and it deserves to be used widely.”
